Pre Rup is a popular sunset view point

Pre Rup mean “Turning the body”. This temple was built by King Rajendravarman II in 10th century (961) and dedicate to Hindu god Shiva. This temple represent Mount Meru, the residence of the gods. There are not many bas relief carving here but on the lintel of some tower was carved Hindu deities. The southwest tower once contained a statue of Lakshmi, the northwest tower a statue of Uma, the southeast tower a statue of Vishnu and the northeast tower a statue of Shiva.
It
locate at the east of Ta Phrom about 3.5 kilometers and south of East Mebon at
about the same distance. We can get to Pre Rup temple for sunset from the both
sides tour, after we finished small circuit and grand circuit tour. We can also
get in here from Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre temple tour.

Watching sunset here on Pre Rup is awesome. The open-air-top floor is widely which is good for more people to sit watching sunset. Before sun set we can see beautiful scenery of paddy fields among greenery jungle all around and a big royal pond called Srah Srang at the eyes sight distance.

Banteay Samre (Samre ethnic citadel)

Banteay Samre is a Hindu temple dedicate to Vishnu God locate in Ou Toeung Village, Preah Dak Commune, Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap Province, just 14kms away from Angkor Wat and 2.5kms from Preah Dak market.

Banteay Samre was built during the reign of King Suriyavarman II in the middle of 12th century in the same style as Agnkor Wat but using the same material as Banteay Srei temple. This temple built of laterite and sandstone and was well restored by Maurce Glaize from 1963 until 1936. The Naga carving on laterite is the unique symbol of this temple and most of the carving are mostly in good condition.

Banteay Samre is mediocre in size and high, we can walk all around by just climbing a few step up. You should spend some of your valuable time visiting this temple because along the way to the temple there are preserved ancient community called Preah Dak. Preah Dak interesting of its delicious fresh noodle and is famous countrywide. You can get in Banteay Samre both way, when you are on the tour to Banteay Srei temple, Kbal Spean, Kulen Mountain, or when you are on the way back to city.

Is Kompong Phluk a hiding biosphere?

It is 31kms at Southeast of Siem Reap town. Kompong Phluk cover 12 329ha which include mangrove forest 6 000ha and over 4 000ha are meadow and lake surface. The population is 3686 people who united in 849 families. Their occupation are vary from fishing, boat building, fishing worker, producing fishing tools, goods seller, farmers(only in dry season) and recently they have another new job as tourist boat driver or rower.

Main attractive view of Kompong Pluk are everyday life of local people, beautiful Buddhist monastery, stilted houses, mangrove forest, floating house and different waterfowl species. Along the trip on boat we can see beautiful view described above. The view in rainy season is different from dry season, when water reach at top level we see lined houses, lush mangrove and widely limpid water, while in dry season we see high stilted houses. We can visit Kompong Phluk year round but the best time to visit is from September till December.

Sambor Prei Kuk World Heritage Site

Sombor Prei Kuk is a scenic archaeological site located in Sambor village, Sambor commune, Prasat Sambor District, about 30 kilometers northeast of Kompong Thom provincial town. The site was once an ancient capital named Ishanapura and a religious center for the worship of Shiva Brahmanism. According to Chinese historian’s note, the site was a Chenla Empire during the reign of 3 kings, Phavarman I (598 A.D), Mahendravarman (600 A.D) and Isanavarman I (616-635 A.D). The king Isanavarman I founded the capital city here in Sambor Prei Kuk area. Every forms of arts and architecture that the scholars of art and architecture classified them to Sambor Prei Kuk style.

Many temples were built in Sambor Prei Kuk area during the reign of king Isanavarman I (616-635 A.D) in 7th century. The temples of Sambor Prei Kuk constructed of solid brick, laterite and sandstone. The lintel, pillars and the door frames are all made of sandstone. Today the majority sanctuaries were collapse by nature and human. So far, 150 temples have been discovered in the forest.

Phnom Kulen National Park

Phnom Kulen National Park
is in Khnorng Phnom Commune, Svay Leur District, Siem Reap Province. It is 56kms
away from town to the waterfall on the top of the mountain. We can go there by car,
van and motor bike and be sure that we need to get there by 11:00AM because it
is one way traffic, from early morning till 10:30AM is going-up-turn and then back-down-turn.
Along the way we will see lush plants and farm land of farmers.
Attractive ecological site are Waterfall, Bat Cave, and wildlife sanctuary at ACCB (Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity).

Kingdom of Wonder

In the world, there are many ancient buildings and temples. Some of those were destroyed by natural disaster or war while the other remain until now and was preserved for human in next generation. Those are recognized as world’s masterpiece by people around the world of its design, style and its long-lasting age.

Angkor Wat is one of the wonders in the world. It was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II at the beginning of 12th century. Angkor Wat is the heaven on earth that the king built for his citizenary. And it was dedicate to god Vishnu in Hinduism and later on to Buddhism. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. Fabulous phenomena are always happen at Angkor Wat. A regular phenomena that happen twice a year is Equinox, it happen on 22nd March and 22nd September. On Equinox day, the sun rise right over the middle tower of Angkor Wat Temple. Sometime in rainy season, before or after raining rainbow also bow right over the temple. Furthermore, Angkor Wat change its appearance look by color of the sky especially after sunrise and before sunset.

Adding to the above phenomenon, Angkor Wat is denote for its intricate ornamentation and striking beauty. It was carved and ornate every corner outside and inside the temple. Bas-reliefs tell many stories from Mahabharata, Ramayana, Human deed judgments and much more. And other temple like Bayon, Ta Phrom, Banteay Srei, Prehvihear…etc are gorgeous. Totally, there are over two thousand temples in whole Cambodia which classified in 13 different styles.
Beside the wonder of stone temples, there are some more natural wonder around Cambodia such as cool waterfalls, lush plant slopes, wide range rainforest, beautiful lakes, and clean white beach. These wonder sites are good for all types of tourism especially, Eco-Tourism, Wilderness Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Active Tourism, Recreation Tourism, and Culture Tourism.

Chong Khneas tourism community

Chong Khneas is a good tourism community that attract tourist to come to visit beside temples. Chong Khneas is one commune among 10 other communes of Siem Reap city and it base on the south of Siem Reap town. In Chong Khneas commune there are 7 village that rank from 1 to 7. Chong Khneas is a new commune that wide from Phnom Krom to Tonle Sab Lake. The people in the community live on the high land especially living along the road that was built by Su Jing Company, and most of them live in the boat on Tonle Sab that known as floating house. Floating village is the special symbol of Chong Khneas community. Tourists can see general view of daily life of the people in floating village. The floating house was built and float a part from each other along the river to Tonle Sab Lake. There are boat and big pan for each family to move to other place.

Beside the houses, there are market, schools and Churches or Temple for the people in the community. There are 464 family that 300 family are Vietnamese, 84 family are Khmer and 80 family are Chames. More than 90% are fisher man and some of them are goods sellers and agriculture are very few. In rainy season from May to October those floating house move close to the river bank and in dry season from November to April they move from the river bank. To hold the house not to move around, they use long wood or bamboo to push deep into the ground under the river and take ropes to tie their house to the wood or bamboo.

the floating forest and Khmer and Vietnam community schools.
